About Shane Worley Music
I
started singing, or humming, before I learned to talk. Music has always
been a vital part of my life. I made my "debut" when I was five years old.
I sang the Waylon song "Good Ole Boys" at a PTA meeting. By the time I was
sixteen, I was playing the local bars on weekends. In 1997, I released my
first album, and have done five more since then with Country Discovery
Records out of South Pittsburg. Due to the overseas marketing, I have been
fortunate enough to travel to Europe several times to do shows and
festivals for the good folks across the pond. In 1999, I was honored by the
European Country Music Association when I won awards for Song of the
Year(Waltzing Margarita), Artist of the Year, and Male Vocalist of the
Year. I am currently concentrating on my songwriting, and am making plans
to release another album later this year.

Don't you love it when you find out
that something you already have can do much more than you realized?
Check this out, and hopefully you will bob your head and say,
"Niiiiiiiice...." in your cool-but-impressed voice.
You know
you can sell your entire album as MP3 downloads directly from your
cdbaby.com page, right?
But did you also know:
* -
You can set the price at whatever you want, anytime you want.
*
- You get 91% of the MP3 selling price! Set it to $15? You make $13.65. Set
it to $8? You make $7.28. That's way more money in your pocket than ANY
other store can give you.
* - You get to know WHO bought your
music immediately! Their name, email, location, and everything is
permanently saved in your account so you can keep in touch with your fans.
(No other store gives you this.)
* - You get paid the following
week, unlike other stores that make you wait up to 2 months.
*
- Not to brag, but we've sold over $600,000 in MP3 downloads in the last
few months, with NO marketing or announcements at all. That already puts CD
Baby ahead of Emusic, Yahoo Music, Sony Connect, Verizon, MSN Music, Snocap
and every company except iTunes, Rhapsody, and Napster, as you can see here
: http://cdbaby.org/stories/07/09/07/3490238.html
* - Customers buy your entire album as one zip download, which
includes not just the MP3s, but also a JPG of the album art, and a text
file of song titles, album notes, and links back to your websites!
* - They're regular MP3 files that play easy on ANY MP3 player your
fans use, whether iPod, cellphone, Blackberry, iPhone, Nokia, Windows, Mac,
Linux, etc.
* - The MP3s are encoded at top-audiophile-quality
(~200k VBR), higher than iTunes or any other major store.
* -

MP3-album-download process works, so you know what to tell your fans?
Temporarily set your MP3 album price to $5, visit your own page to buy it
with your credit card or PayPal account, download it to see how it works,
and you'll get $4.55 on your next check, as you would with any other sale.
(Your $5 sale minus our 9% cut.) So in the end that educational research
project would have only cost you a whopping 45 cents. Try it!
Susie
Hopman http://www.myspace.com/susiehopman has
moved from California to Arizona where she has settled in with her husband
and new baby daughter "Ella Skye". Talked to Susie on the phone the
other day and she said she will be playing venues in Arizona pretty
soon. Susie has done quite well with the CD she recorded with Lonnie
Ratliff entitled "Cowboy Jazz".
Garth
Brooks Long before
Garth Brooks was a household name he, like so many other artists chasing
that neon rainbow, recorded a lot of songwriter demos for the writers on
music row. "Did I Open My Eyes" is one of
those songs and was produced by Lonnie Ratliff. clic photo to play or

Peggy
Lynn Peggy Lynn http://www.myspace.com/peggylynnwilliams is
a California singer working on her first CD with Lonnie in Nashville.
Check out some of the songs they recorded on the first session. Pay
close attention to "I Got The Blues Again" (Ron
Davies & Ron Kimbro). Peggy is starting to play some shows there
in California and pretty much enjoying the music business.
Male Vocals by Stan Cox"Redneck
Alabama"
(Lonnie Ratliff / Erin
Hay)
(Verse 1)
She never liked the way that Alabama clay
Would cling when
it stuck to her bare feet
One more heavy burden, tellin' her for
certain
She's in Redneck, Alabama on a dead end street
(Verse 2)
Raised up like an outcast heard 'em whisper white trash
But
words alone she knows don't make it so
Mem'ries will remind her they
could have all been kinder
But in Redneck, Alabama that's the way it
goes
(Chorus)
In Redneck, Alabama
There's no sweet home memories
When you're sixteen and pretty
All you know is you gotta leave
And there's a man in a Cadillac
With a hundred dollar bill
Out of Redneck, Alabama
The roads all run
uphill
(Bridge)
She tucks that hundred dollar bill into her dimestore purse
Leaves yesterday behind and prays tomorrow won't be worse
(Repeat Chorus)

...Hi Lonnie! I think its about time I participate with
a little gossip!
A lot of great things are happening these days..
First of all Somebody's Angel made a big jump on NMW MAIN COUNTRY CHART!
Its now now placed as number 17! On the INDIES ONLY It just climbed number
11. Its absolutely amazing, and I would strongly suggest anybody who is
considering to get any kind of promotion, to get in touch with either Gary
or Rhonnie! Or even better.. BOTH :0)
I was just invited to play
at Scandinavian Countryfestival in Furuvik, Sweden in August! I´m
really looking forward to this gig, as I will be performing in the
primetime right after the great legend Johnny Bush!
As you
might know, I´m working on a new single these days called "Wildhorse"
It will be my first attempt as a songwriter.. So it will be interresting to
see if I should just keep the pen in my pocket and consentrate on the
singing he,he. Anyway I had a lot of fun doing it, and I think it turned
out pretty well!
Besides from that I´m planning to go and
see one of Joni´s gigs in Sweeden next month.. She is performing with
one of the best bands on these parts, so I think it will be one great
consert!!!
Well thats about all for now! Looking forward to go
to Nashville and do our session!

I guess your first car is a big event for everyone and I was surely no exception to that rule. When you are the oldest of seven kids in Pushmataha County, Oklahoma in 1965 it is not one of those automatic things where when you turn 16 years old a new red Mustang convertible shows up in the driveway. I never had any trouble understanding the reality of my situation and was comfortable with the fact that if I wanted a car I would have to figure out some way to buy it on my own.
Also if you lived in rural Pushmataha County you knew there was not many ways to make money especially for teenagers and especially not enough money to buy a car. I was telling my Grandpa Ratliff about my predicament which was mostly just me thinking out loud because I knew there was nothing he could do about it and I was not even thinking that he might. Grandpa and Grandma Ratliff lived on their old age pension check and as everyone in Southeast Oklahoma would say, they were as poor as old Job’s turkey. I don’t think I even thought my Grandpa was listening to me but when I got through with my sad tale he said come here Lonnie Carl. The use of my middle name meant it was either important or I was in a whole lot of trouble. Since I had done nothing to get in trouble for I got up off the porch steps and walked over to his rocking chair wondering what he had in mind. He dug in his pocket and pulled out an old quarter unlike anything I had ever seen. He said isn’t one of your friends at school a coin collector ? I told him yes that Jimmy Maple collected old coins and he had bought a couple of Indian head pennies from me a week or so before. I guess my Grandpa listened to me a lot more than I ever thought he did because he had remembered that. He said why don’t you see if that old quarter is worth anything and if it is you can sell it to him and use the money to help buy you a car. I knew this was a pretty heavy duty moment in both our lives even though I was only sixteen years old and not quite sure how to handle the situation. I am thankful that I was well mannered enough to tell him I better not take his old quarter because I knew he had carried it around for years and it was probably pretty important to him. He didn’t go into any long drawn out explanations but just said no Lonnie I want you to have it or I wouldn’t have offered it to you so go see if you can figure out a way to get you a car from it. About 30 years later I finally figured out why I think he did it and I am glad now he got to share in that first old car that neither one of us could afford.
The old quarter was an 1896 S mint
which meant on top of being old it was also very rare as it was minted at
the San Francisco Mint which only minted a few of these coins. I had a coin
collector’s book that was a couple of years old Jimmy Maple had given
me but I knew it would at least give me a general idea of what
Grandpa’s old quarter was worth. When we got back home I dug out the
coin book and checked to see what the quarter was worth. I was quite
pleased to see that at the time of the coin book’s printing it was
worth about $16 so I knew it would be worth at least that much since it was
now a couple of years older. I knew Jimmy would buy it and that he would
have the money because his father owned the Chevrolet dealership there in
Antlers, Oklahoma and they were a pretty well to do family. I also knew
that my buddy Bobby Satterfield had parked his
"click" car
photo old 1948 Ford sedan out under a tree last fall when he had
gotten a better car and he had told me he would sell it to me for $17.50 .
It was looking like I was going to end up with my first car thanks to
Grandpa Ratliff’s old quarter so I couldn’t wait for the
weekend to be over and I could move forward with my
plan.
